EUROPRACTICE 2.0 is a Chips JU project that builds on 30 years of evolution of renowned EUROPRACTICE services, consolidating and extending them to offer users an affordable, open-access framework for designing and fabricating chips.

Our Primary Goal

Our goal is to lower entry barriers for universities, research institutes, and their spinouts by offering affordable access to:

  • Industry-standard design tools
  • Fabrication technologies
  • Comprehensive training

This will be complemented with extensive customer support covering technical and operational aspects.

What will we do?

EUROPRACTICE 2.0 will maintain and expand the three core service groups: Design Tools, Fabrication Services, and Training. We will continue to extend and reinforce each of these groups to meet the evolving needs of our users through initiatives, such as:

  • Design IP exchange
  • Open-source Process-Design Kits (PDKs) and design tools
  • Heterogenous integration
  • ClassIC – a new initiative aimed at lowering the barrier to IC design and fabrication for less experienced users (e.g., undergraduate and graduate students) by developing simplified design flows and related training material

EUROPRACTICE and EuroCDP

EUROPRACTICE 2.0 will work towards seamless integration with EuroCDP, the EU Chips Design Platform, ensuring both initiatives complement each other and provide a clear pathway from education and research to market-ready products.

Together, EUROPRACTICE and EuroCDP will drive the growth of Europe’s microelectronics ecosystem, making resources readily available and easily accessible for both academia and industry.
